5 Top Tips when choosing a fancy dress costume shop

Surfing the net for a fancy dress costume?  Here are some must read tips to help you decide where to buy from.

1. Keep it simple – Choose a company that has a good website.  This means well thought out categories, easy to find products and an easy ordering system.  Sites with large product images are usually the most appealing and make it easy for you to find everything you need.  Well defined categories such as women’s costumes, men’s costumes or 80’s fancy dress, make it easy for you to click on the department you are looking for.  Once you’ve found the category, say ladies fancy dress, then you can check out the products.  Products should be clearly marked with all relevant information: sizes, pricing and colour choices.  At this point you need an ‘add to basket’ feature.  Most websites won’t let you put your ladies outfit in the basket unless they have it in stock.  There’s nothing more annoying than finding the perfect fancy dress costume, getting all the way to the shopping basket page and then being told it’s out of stock.  Find the ‘continue shopping button’ to find the wig and make-up to match. 

2. Contact Us- Check they have a contact phone number and an address.  If you do need to get hold of them for any reason you’ll have a choice of methods.  An online map is useful if you are going to visit them on the high street.

3. Ask your friends – Find out where your friends order from.  Most people have attended at least a couple of fancy dress parties and will have a preferred website to buy from.  Friends’ always like to help out their mates by passing on advice! 

4. Testimonials – Read the testimonials.  Are people happy with the service, quality and value for money? Happy or unhappy customers will usually want to air their views in an email.  Most companies have a testimonial section and are happy to pass on customer comments.

 
5. Enjoy! – A fancy dress costume is a personal purchase and you need to feel comfortable with your outfit.  If you need more advice before you order; talking directly with a sales advisor is the answer.  A sales phone number should be displayed on every page of the website and most companies are happy to help with any queries.
