Holloween Costumes: Get Creative, Save Money This Halloween

Holloween Costumes.  Yes, it’s spelled incorrectly.  There’s an “o” in Holloween where an “a” should be.  There are websites that optimize for that misspelled phrase, just to get the traffic that comes from a typo.  As such, you may be missing out on a wealth of free holloween costumes ideas and information, just because you know how to spell.

If you can make yourself spell incorrectly, you could find some websites with new ideas about creative and budget-friendly holloween costumes, party decor and themed fare.

Holloween Costumes:  Inexpensive ideas for little to no-cost costumes include….

Inexpensive party decor could include “an autopsy room” with foods that, in a near dark room, seem to be something else….

• cooked spaghetti, chilled in a bowl, becomes a brain
• peeled grapes become eyeballs
• warm chocolate syrup mixed with warm ketchup becomes blood
• jello mold of a human heart

This food is not meant to be eaten, of course.  It’s just there for a tactile illusion.

Foods that you could have at a holloween costumes party include:

• Put dip in a bowl made out of an old, plastic baby dool.  Cut out the abdomen and place a tiny bowl in it, filled with dip.  One of its’ empty eye sockets could hold toothpicks for various appetizers.
• Ribs.  If you have an autopsy buffet, a plastic or rubber skeleton on the counter or table can be an effective prop.  Place a crock pot where the ribs or intestines should be and serve country style or bone-in ribs from it.
• Make plenty of ice cubes in your own freezer before the party.  Place tiny plastic insects, like ants or spiders, in the trays and freeze.  For best results, allow the cubes to freeze a little before placing the toys in them. The layer of ice that’s forming on the surface will help the plastic objects remain in the cubes longer.

Looking for things in a new way can help find great new ideas that you otherwise may have missed.  Searching for “Holloween Costumes” is a good example of that.
