The Medieval Ages

The void of the Romans left a spot for tribes to take control these tribes were the Saxons, Angles, Ostrogoths, Visogoths, Burgundians, and the vandals. The Islam people also took control of some of Africa and Mediterranian Isles. All of the fighting Kingdoms caused almost all trade to stop leaving many places isolated. The only major unifing idea was the Roman Catholic Church that spread out bishops who could stop fighting or start it in the terms of the Crusades. Mostly this time was a darkening period of learning and new ideas except for the Carolingians who were a tribe in Germany and France who grew out of turmoil under the reins of Charlemagne who united most of northern Europe. After Charlemagne death there was another power void that had brothers fighting each other until the Treaty of Verdun. This treaty split up the Empire into three divisions (one for each brother). Eventually Charles the Fat united a smaller Empire through inheritance and violence but after this was short lived because soon Viking Raiders and others made a rebellion that left a split up empire with many warring leaders. Meanwhile in Africa the Islam nation was conquering everything and was heading towards Europe. They made it to Spain where at the the Battle of Tours they were repulsed by the Visigoths. So after all this time of bloodshed almost nothing was accomplished.

he high middle ages consisted of a short period of time of people who finally settled down to real life. This enabled the people to have a population boom increasing army sizes and more knights and armor came to being. This was caused by the armies calming and also the Christian Church who stopped some of the wars between people. Even in Italy the city-states started to form with Venice, Genoa, and Pisa. This calm period ended with a giant war we all know as the Crusades. This happened because the Islamic aggression and the collapse of the Eastern Empire. The Crusades involved a large amount of knights from all over Europe coming to present day Israel. They had a win-loss strategy that eventually captured the eastren Middle East. This was short lived with many arab states coming against the knights. They were mostly lead by Nur ad-din who united the people and slowly retook the land eventually after his lifetime liberating Ruad from the Knights Templar. This mostly left all the same except for the uneasiness in the Middle-east and a pact that allowed any religion in Jerusalem which is still true today.

During the Late Middle Ages the Kingdoms got more present names like the Britain and France, knights were no more and instead you used light cavalry, long bowman, and most importantly pike men. During this time a lot of events took place soom like the Black Death which is a bacterial disease that killed half the populations of some towns. This again prevented advancement and people had a harder life doing more work. Along with the emergence of some present day countries you also had the rivalries as well, the biggest was Britain vs. France in the Hundred Years War. The war did not establish much except for the repulsion of the british from France. It also set up new tactics, weapons and units that I have said above. These set up a basis of war ideas to come. Finally in this time the church had a mini crisis when Martin Luther established the idea of Protestant. This stopped people from believing the church 100% and instead thinking about faith. Not thinking of church lost money and the church made actions to stop the ideas of protestants and it worked for the most part but the idea lived on still.
