5 Ways to Spruce Up Your Party Decorations

If an occasion is worthy of a party, it is worthy of a party done right. To set the tone for a fun filled event, consider creating a truly festive environment that guests will remember using unique party decorations. There are many party decoration alternatives that can be used, beyond the standard balloons and streamers.

If you want to spruce up your party decorations, here are five ways to get started.

1. Consider the Occasion . A Cinco de Mayo party may call for completely different party decorations than an evening work party. The occasion is the foundation on which your party is arranged and there are many creative ways to make it memorable.
2. Remember, decorations are a tool. Choose colors that reflect the event and the mood you want to create. For a blow out birthday, vibrant colors might be in order whereas more sedate colors for an elegant event. Use party decorations to build excitement and add mystery. Using party decorations like a bright, personalized birthday banner can make a party feel like a well planned event. An entryway decorated to match the theme, color or mood of the event, or one that veils the party from the doorway builds anticipation and adds drama.
3. Gain Inspiration from Your Theme. No matter what the occasion, you can gain party decoration inspiration from the chosen theme, no matter how vague the theme may be. Even something as wide open as a “Spring” party can give a place to start. Look to the season to gain fun ideas. Colors that work well together in nature will work well in decorating for a party as well.
4. Spend money on the important things and get creative with the rest. For example, if you were organizing a child’s “train” party and you must have those engineer hats and train whistles, save by getting creative with the decorations and party goods. Plain black and red plates and cups in bulk would be much more affordable than ones printed with trains. One personalized party banner can add a dramatic touch and can be supplemented with other details. Consider what can be obtained most affordably connected to the selected theme. If you want fresh flowers for a garden party or tea, consider every option. Buying arrangements is one option, but can get expansive. Try calling a local garden club and see if you can buy fresh cut flowers from them. Shopping clubs, flea markets and farmer’s markets also have them much more affordably.
5. Let the venue guide you. Even the most inexpensive venues can be spruced up with creative party decorations. Sometimes, rather than try to hide or disguise the room, it is more fun to work with the elements and make them part of the ambiance.
